Embrace the Wild

Join Imelda at Greenslate Farm for a personal journey into the wilderness during this 4 week therapeutic program.

You may be wondering what to expect . . . .

We will wander from the car park into the woods and gather around the fire, allowing ourselves to settle and begin to slow down.

We will ‘check in’ and then you will be guided a series of practices including nature connection, self-compassion and mindfulness.

Each week you will have an opportunity to explore the woods, foraging for materials for our nature craft, which you can take home and continue your mindful journey at your leisure, or perhaps leave behind as a piece of transient art.

Please bear in mind that we will always be outside, unless the weather is posing a risk to safety, so keep an eye on the weather forecast and dress accordingly (waterproofs when it’s raining for example). Layers are generally a good idea as you can add more or take them off depending on how you feel.

On a particularly cold day we would recommend:

Lots of layers on top- vest/t-shirt/long sleeve top/fleece/gilet/warm coat

Layers on bottom half- tights/leggings/PJ bottoms under trousers/tracksuit bottoms

2 pairs of socks & warm boots/trainers- that you don’t mind getting muddy

Hat/scarf/gloves/buff.

You know yourself best, and know how you respond to the cold, so come prepared for your own needs. We will have blankets for you to snuggle under but please feel free to bring your own if you prefer. And who knows, it may even be warm and sunny!

We will have a fire going so please be mindful that your clothes may smell of campfire when you get home.

We do have some spare layers, waterproofs and boots if anyone needs to borrow anything, just drop us a message in advance so we have time to pack it.

This project is funded by Path to Purpose, which is part of a Greater Manchester Live Well initiative. This project is specifically for people who are economically inactive (this includes unemployed, not seeking working right now or retired) and living in Wigan. If all spaces are not filled we will then open it up to people who are employed also.
