Transcendental Meditation (TM) is a simple, effortless meditation technique that allows the active mind to settle naturally toward greater rest and quiet alertness. TM is practiced for 15–20 minutes twice a day while sitting comfortably with the eyes closed.

Through a generous donation from the David Lynch Foundation (DLF), Mindful USC will offer opportunities throughout the year to learn TM at no cost. The TM course takes place over four consecutive days, with 60–90 minutes of instruction each day. Day 1 begins with small-group, in-person instruction on the UPC campus, followed by three consecutive days of asynchronous learning and 30-minute virtual sessions.

Published research has explored the potential benefits of TM, including how the practice may:

  • Help reduce stress, anxiety, and burnout
  • Support more restful sleep
  • Support focus, creativity, energy, and resilience
  • Contribute to overall well-being

Whether you’re new to meditation or already have experience with mindfulness or another meditation practice, this course offers an opportunity to explore TM, a technique that offers a distinct way to support rest and relaxation. Learn more about TM here.
