Deep Rest Friday — Breathwork & Yoga Nidra
Relaxation is harder than it sounds. In the modern world, many of us have lost the skill of deep rest.
Join Ann-Marie James, BACP accredited psychotherapist and certified breath coach, for a monthly Friday evening session combining slow-paced breathwork and yoga nidra to help you fully exhale the week, release tension, and gradually drop into a state of deep, restorative rest.
Each session begins with a short breathwork practice with somatic movement to settle the nervous system, followed by a full yoga nidra practice. Yoga nidra is proven to replace lost sleep, reduce anxiety and emotional reactivity, and improve clarity of thought. No experience needed, just bring yourself. Blankets, mats, and bolsters are all provided.
Stay on for whole food nibbles, herbal tea, and community following the practice if you wish.
You can join us in person at The Studio, London Road Campus, University of Reading, RG1 5AQ — or online.
Accessibility notes: The Studio has one flight of stairs leading to the room. Nidra is normally practiced laying on your back but armchairs and footrests are available for those unable to lay on the floor.
