Military Youth Pheasant Hunt

This year's MN Military Youth Pheasant Hunt is hosted by Child and Youth Services of the MN Army National Guard, with sponsorship shown on the flyer. A limited number of spots will be available for youth ages 12-18. All the shooting and hunting will be provided by Wild Wings Game Farm. Volunteers will be on staff to ensure a safe and exciting hunt for our youth. Lunch will be provided for youth and adults.

The day will begin with a safety brief to help educate the youth about firearm safety, how to clean birds, and the conservation side of hunting. From there, we will go out to the trap range, and the youth will have the opportunity to shoot clay pigeons to help hone their marksmanship abilities. After clay shooting, the pheasant hunt will begin. One instructor will supervise three youths during the hunt to ensure safety and provide shooting tips. After lunch, the harvest is cleaned and prepared for the table.

Parents are welcome to go around the sporting clays, but for safety reasons, they are not permitted in the hunting field. They can observe the youngsters hunting from the parking lot at each field. They are welcome to shoot a round of sporting clays while the kids are hunting, but they would need to pay the round fee and use steel shot. They are welcome to the wild game lunch.

Please bring cold-weather clothing, comfortable boots, hat/gloves, bright orange hunting gear, and a shotgun (if you do not have one, one will be provided). Ammunition will be provided.

Notification that you are registered for the hunt will come in the form of an email the week of September 1 from a Youth Program Coordinator for the M.N. National Guard. Be sure to respond to the email to confirm your spot.
