The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge is a popular hiking route in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, UK. It involves climbing the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough, typically in under 12 hours.

Here’s an overview:

4th July: Arrive at the hotel in Yorkshire (exact location to be confirmed based on the number of participants).

5th July: Start the challenge at 6:00 AM, aiming to complete all three peaks by 6:00 PM, followed by an evening celebration to mark our achievements.

6th July: Depart from the hotel and head home.

The Peaks

  1. Pen-y-ghent (694m / 2,277 ft)
    • The first and smallest peak.
    • Known for its rugged terrain and steep inclines near the summit.
    • Offers stunning views of the surrounding valleys.
  2. Whernside (736m / 2,415 ft)
    • The highest of the three.
    • Features a more gradual ascent but is longer in distance.
    • Often windy at the top, with views of the Ribblehead Viaduct.
  3. Ingleborough (723m / 2,372 ft)
    • The last peak
    • Features a steep climb near the summit plateau.
    • Provides panoramic views of the Dales.

Key Facts

  • Distance: Approximately 24 miles (38.6 km).
