Description
BRAND NEW 1-DAY WORKSHOP SERIES!
Functional Links: Pelvis and Core
Assess the whole. Find the cause. Predict the outcome.
The consensus from the evidence is clear, impairments from elsewhere of the body may contribute to the reported symptoms. And key to this is they don’t have to be adjacent. As a result of this interconnected certainty, we often don’t know where to start.
This course shows you how to remove the guesswork and consistently identify the cause(s) of symptoms presented by your client.
Together we explore using examples you will readily recognise from your own clinical practice, applying principles of biomechanics and tensegrity to improve movement efficiency.
Join us for a day of discovery in this science-backed approach to understand, assess, treat and train our central anatomy. Based upon the upcoming publication of ‘Core’, this workshop is a chance to explore deeper concepts while gaining practical skills.
Explore the relationships of pelvis and torso. Discover when the pelvis is affecting the torso, or how a rib can affect the sacrum. Develop your skills in pattern recognition to treat the cause, without being blinkered by the symptoms.
We will show you how understanding real-life biomechanical principles will help you assess any movement, for any body.
This course is supported by research and clinical experience. It will gives you a four dimensional appreciation of functional anatomy. A truly enjoyable and fascinating day of practical hands on assessment, treatment and training.
Learning objectives:
- Find the cause(s) of symptoms
- Describe posture and movement with a non-judgemental descriptive language
- Ask better questions
- Use outcome prediction to avoid abreactions to treatment
- Learn to use the biomechanics of the pelvis and torso
About your teacher:
Owen Lewis is a highly educated and experienced clinician, educator and, most recently, writer in the field of human movement. He is a philosophy nerd, a big lover of art, poetry, anatomy and sport, and a very clever man. The way Owen sees the world through all these lenses at once is fascinating. The way he blends language and examples from each field to draw parallels and metaphors to help explain the subjects he teaches is truly wondrous. His unique teaching style enhances his students’ cognitive uptake by stimulating unexpected, often non-linear, connections in their minds, leading them to embody the learning at a deep level individually meaningful to them.
Owen recently finished writing his first book, bringing his polymath approach to the subject of ‘the core’ as well as the latest research and evidence surrounding it. He has a particular interest in the pelvis – the hub of the body, its very centre – and takes great delight in expounding upon its beauty and significance as the major load-bearing, force transferring structure in the human body.
