Description

MDS Experience at Nail Spring Ranch

“Shooting is only 10% of your job, but when it’s time to shoot it becomes 100% of your purpose.”

What:

Being a sniper isn’t all about shooting. Being a sniper isn’t all about ghillie suits and hiding in plain sight. In fact, being a sniper isn’t even close to what most people think it is. The Modern Day Sniper Experience is going to give you a taste of the in-depth nature of what it means to incorporate shooting with field skills to accomplish a specific task.

Have you ever wondered what it’s really like to move yourself and your equipment to a specific point, at a very specific time, to perform a necessary task? Do you know how to navigate across varying terrain and budget your time to get there when you need to be? Will your equipment be up to the task when you get to where you’re going? Could you do all of that, undetected, while under observation from skilled opponents?

This isn't a tactical fantasy bandcamp. This isn’t going to be a giant sufferfest or an endurance session either. This is a real-deal look into what it really takes to do this job and we’re going to show you how it’s done with a taste of reality.

Being a sniper is all about problem solving, being resourceful, and creative. Being a sniper is about being a master of ALL of the skills that are needed to get yourself and your equipment to a specific place, at a specific time, undetected.

We’re going to focus on some core-competencies in this experience which are:

  • Marksmanship
    • The Circle of Components

    • Rifle Setup and Zeroing

    • Fundamentals of Marksmanship

    • Introduction to Long Range Shooting

    • Introduction to Positional Shooting

    • Introduction to Field Shooting

  • Land Navigation
    • Map and Compass Navigation Techniques

    • Land Navigation Exercises

    • Electronic Scouting and Reconnaissance

  • Basic Field Skills
    • Observation and Target Detection Techniques

    • Individual movement techniques and camouflage

    • Selecting and Building Positions

The goal of this course is to show you where your skills currently are, expose you to techniques we have used with success, and then test you and your equipment with a culminating exercise to show you how far you’ve come, and how much farther you still need to go.

This isn’t Tactical Fantasy Band Camp, the skills we’re talking about are the same skills you’d use to hunt 4-legged critters, only with some different considerations.

Where:

Our friends at the Nail Spring Ranch will be hosting us at their 5-Star facility. With no amenities spared, you’re going to be well taken care of. Your tuition covers your stay at the Nail Spring Ranch in a private room, three full meals a day, and an open bar. From home-made scrambled eggs, bacon, and pancakes in the morning to T-bones and giant pork chops in the evening, the food and accommodations at Nail Spring are truly second to none.

The Nail Spring Ranch is located in the southeastern corner of Oregon. The topography and vegetation here make this an ideal location for honing all of our fieldcraft and shooting skills. With sagebrush and juniper trees everywhere, the ranch boasts over 8,000 acres of access to varying terrain from flats to canyons offering realistic and challenging shooting scenarios with plenty of targets. Diversity in terrain doesn’t just benefit shooting either; your land navigation skills will be put to the test. Both during the day, and at night.

With two established long ranges, you’ll receive instruction on-site using professional audio visual tools and shoot from covered and climate controlled shooting houses. This way we can teach you something, demonstrate the concept, then immediately allow you to practically apply your skills, closing the loop on the learning process.

Wanna flex a little? Fly yourself into the short grass-strip on site, tie your plane down and walk less than 100 yards to the guest house.

You’ll receive detailed instructions on how to get to Nail Spring when we get a little further down the road.

When:

Our hosts at Nail Spring would like to see us all at the ranch in time for your evening meal on Sunday, June 11th.

We’ll start training on the 11th, and keep the party going until we wrap up on the afternoon of Friday the 16th.

A detailed schedule will be delivered to you after registration.

Why:

If you’ve ever been interested in what it’s like to undertake all the facets of being a sniper, you’re not going to find a more realistic approach to training outside of signing the dotted line on a government form.

Maybe you’re curious about testing your skills. Maybe you’re down to play GI Joe for the week and get dirty and sweaty. Maybe you’re a hunter who wants to see the parallels between what you do already, and what snipers do. Either way, this experience is going to leave a lasting impression on you with an appreciation for the multitude of skills that snipers use to get themselves into a position to do their jobs.

BONUS:

Interested in attending, but don’t have a rifle yet?

Do you want to take your experience one step further?

How about building a rifle for yourself?

Let us help you do that with our friends at Short Action Customs. We’ll work with you to select the components for your build and arrange to have your parts shipped to us at Nail Spring. With your parts waiting for you to arrive, you’ll assemble your own rifle under the watchful eye of our cadre and spend 5 days learning everything about it. I guarantee you’ll have a closeness with that rifle unlike any other when that week is all over.

Cost Structure:

Price Per Student: $6500 (without rifle build)

**Limited to 12 Participants**
