This course bridges the gap between practical use of a carbine and precision rifle shooting. The huge debate in the industry is what defines a Scoped Carbine. Numerous companies offer this course and there are some very reputable ones. Due to so many different denotations of this term, we figured it would be best to tell you how we tailor this course so you know what you’re signing up for.
We designed this course around the terms “Designated Marksman” or an “SPR Role” since most individuals can relate to those meanings. What does that mean exactly? This class is designed for use of an LPVO (Low Power Variable Optic) or even a traditional riflescope and with/without an offset red dot. This course is not designed for the primary optic to be a red dot with/without a magnifier. Can the job be done with that set up? Absolutely, but it's outside the realm of what this curriculum is designed to cover.
What can I expect?
This is a 3-day class designed to push your carbine to distance with precision while also having close contact shots. You will learn how and when to make full use of your optic/optics in regards to using the magnification range and/or transitioning to a secondary sighting system. This course will also cover how an AR platform works and things to consider when building yours out, reloads/malfunctions, gear considerations, fundamental use of "driving" a carbine or SPR proficiently, multiple target engagements at various known/unknown distances, shooting from different positions, and a culminating event that will combine the above topics covered. Expect to move from multiple positions and think outside the box to build stability in any position to make an accurate shot at distance.
We hope we can provide some value to you in learning how to employ a Scoped Carbine in the manner that we addressed. If this is not how you wish to employ your rifle that's ok too! There are plenty of other reputable instructors out there that offer a Scoped Carbine Course that may tailor it more towards your desired role.
Class Prerequisites: Must have a basic understanding of your rifle. We do not expect you to be a master, but basic firearms safety and weapons handling (loading, unloading, firing) is a MUST. Highly recommended a previous Carbine Course of some sort, as this course is designed to push your carbine/rifle to distance and at a fast pace.
