Coasts in Mind Hightown Prehistoric Forest Surveying

Join us for a hands-on archaeological workshop exploring and surveying the remains of Hightown’s prehistoric forest using non-invasive archaeological techniques.

During the workshop, our team will introduce you to the survey methods used by archaeologists to record the site using an RTK (Real-Time Kinetic) to GPS locate the remains we find. You’ll have the opportunity to take part in a real archaeological project and contribute to the ongoing study of Hightown’s prehistoric forest!

Meeting point and parking
Please meet at Blundellsands Sailing Club car park at the start of the session. Parking is available along Thornbeck Avenue.

Please note:

• No previous archaeological experience is required.
• Sessions will run from 11am until 4pm subject to tidal conditions
• Participants must be aged 18 or over.
• Good mobility is required, as the survey takes place on the beach over uneven ground.
• Please wear sensible footwear and clothing suitable for coastal conditions.
