THE FILM
Sobremesa was filmed in Guatemala and is based on the true story of Carlos Díaz, a 30-something Guatemalan man. In 2009, he ran a business selling handmade superhero boots and shoes on eBay to Comic-Con fans in the United States. Part documentary, part picaresque metafiction, the story sorts through his life during a three-month crisis. Twelve friends appear to help him, to undermine him, and retell his life through their own aspirations. It was filmed in Antigua, Lake Amatitlán, Livingston, and Cubulco, Guatemala.
