Come along and Explore Peer Support in Moray
This hybrid FREE event is in person at The Harvest centre, Riverchurch Elgin, with the option to join ONLINE using the zoom platform
Be part of creating a Moray Peer Support Collective!
All Moray based people who offer any kind of peer support are welcome.
Do you use your personal life experiences in supporting another person?
Are you providing support to another person by drawing on your own lived experience of the same thing?
Perhaps you run a support group, provide one to one support, or offer peer-support in another way.
If so, Moray Wellbeing Hub, SAMH, the Scottish Recovery Network and Arrows would like to invite you to participate in the second of 4 peer-support network events to explore the topic of peer support in Moray. More meet up dates to follow throughout the year.
This event will provide peer supporters working across different fields and geographies in Moray the opportunity to come together to talk about what they do, share experiences and learning, provide support to each other and consider if they need more support to fulfil their roles.
Peer support is where a person with lived experience of, for example a health condition, offers support to another person with a similar condition. Peer support makes an important contribution to the Moray care and support landscape. Some peer supporters are paid, while others do so on a formal volunteer basis, and others provide informal pro bono support.
What is peer-support?
Watch a short explainer video here - https://youtu.be/yNRMSn9Pc7w
Currently there are no Moray opportunities for peer supporters working in different fields and geographies to come together to talk about what they do, to share experiences and learning, to consider if they need more support in their roles, to think about what could be done to raise the profile of peer support and its benefits and to discuss how to try and encourage more
people to become involved in peer support.
Moray Wellbeing Hub, SAMH, the Scottish Recovery Network and Arrows therefore have come together to connect over the topic of peer support. We hope to provide you with the space to collectively identify and produce creative local solutions that will create a positive environment for peer support across Moray.
This is a free event but booking is essential.
The providers forum will be on Friday 10th Nov 9.30-11.30am please email hello@moraywellbeinghub.org.uk if you wish to attend this session
