This course is open to individuals and organisations who want to feel more confident supporting others in a mental health crisis — including those with lived/living experience, supporters, and professionals in community roles.

Course Information:

Accredited Scotland's Mental Health First Aid (SMHFA) 

This 2-day course, accredited by Public Health Scotland, aims to equip participants with the tools to support mental health and assist others in crisis. This course is delivered by accredited Moray Wellbeing Hub Champions who utilise their professional skills as facilitators, alongside their lived and living experiences of life challenges.

The course does not train individuals to be mental health professionals, nor is it intended as therapy. It offers basic general information about mental health problems, such as common medical terms, as well as exploring recovery. The knowledge presented and understanding developed in the course help to remove stigma and to give confidence in approaching a person in distress.

Mental Health First Aid has been rigorously evaluated in Scotland. Participants reported a range of benefits to their own and others' mental health.

Booking conditions:

Public Health Scotland subsidises and supports this course, limiting delivery to priority groups to ensure proper use of resources. By booking, you agree to the following conditions:

Paid Spaces:

• Your reservation is not confirmed until full payment is received.
• After booking, you’ll receive an invoice. Contact us for multiple bookings on a single invoice.
• Payment delays may result in limited choices due to full courses.

Funded Spaces:

• Fully funded spaces are awarded based on specific project funding and eligibility criteria.
• The booking form allows you to indicate relevant personal or professional details. We will then contact you to discuss the availability of funded spaces. 
• We will confirm your funded space via email.
• Your reservation is not confirmed until you receive this email confirmation.
• Cancellations made within 10 working days before the start date, or non-attendance, may limit future access to funded spaces.

Course Requirements - all tickets:

• If minimum enrolment isn’t met, alternative dates will be offered.
• Final confirmation and a registration link with Public Health Scotland will be provided one week before the course.
• Courses will not run with fewer than eight participants, in accordance with Public Health Scotland.
• Public Health Scotland regularly update their list of key priority groups for delivery. Bookings will be reviewed in line with these, and spaces offered accordingly. 
• Participants must complete both days of the course to receive accreditation in the form of certificates from Public Health Scotland.

Cancellation Policy:

• If we cancel the course, we will contact you to discuss alternative dates or a full refund.
• You can cancel for a 50% refund up to 10 working days before the course start date.
• Cancellations made less than 10 working days before a course start date will not be refunded.

What makes Moray Wellbeing Hub courses different? Real life experiences: We believe in harnessing the power of life experiences, taking what can be challenging and abstract concepts and making them more 'real', practically useful and easier to relate to for participants. Wherever possible, our courses are delivered by peer trainers, individuals who have firsthand knowledge of the approaches and experiences from their own lives.

Keeping it local: Moray has a wealth of support and education organisations in wellbeing. Our courses are delivered for the benefit of the Moray community and therefore endeavour to help our participants build sustainable links beyond any course; resources they can signpost to and access in Moray. Wherever possible we will use local trainers, venues and resources, as well as promote and deliver our courses in mutual partnership with all sizes of local organisations
