Fully Funded | Principles of Peer Support: Introduction to Peer Skills (2-hour session)

Join us for this interactive 2-hour introduction to peer support, designed to explore the value of shared experiences and how they can support wellbeing and recovery.

This session is ideal as a stand-alone learning opportunity or as a starting point for those interested in progressing to the Peer2Peer Essentials programme.

During the session, we’ll explore:

  • What we mean by a peer and why peer approaches are so impactful
  • The power of sharing our own stories and lived experience
  • How peer values such as authenticity & mutuality can be applied in everyday roles

This event is especially suited to anyone interested in peer support approaches—whether in a professional role, voluntary work, or personal capacity. It’s a great opportunity for those working in health, social care, community settings, or anyone who wants to build more meaningful, supportive connections with others.

This is a relaxed and welcoming session, with opportunities to connect and learn together. Lunch is included, and support for additional expenses is also available—please let us know when booking.

What’s next? Peer2Peer Essentials

If you’d like to explore peer support further, this session provides a great introduction to the Peer2Peer Essentials programme.

Peer2Peer offers a deeper, more immersive experience, bringing people together as equals to explore recovery, wellbeing, and shared life challenges. Participants commit to attending the full programme and take part as open peers—setting aside job roles to connect through lived experience.

The programme supports people to:

  • Use their own experiences to support others in a meaningful way
  • Develop confidence in peer-based approaches within their own role or community
  • Challenge stigma and promote positive change
  • Contribute to peer-led projects and initiatives

There is also the opportunity to complete a recovery stories session and work towards a Peer2Peer pass as part of Moray Wellbeing Hub’s quality assurance approach.

FAQs:

What makes Moray Wellbeing Hub courses different?
Real life experiences: We believe in harnessing the power of life experiences, taking what can be challenging and abstract concepts and make it more 'real', practically useful and easier to relate to for participants. Wherever possible our courses are delivered by peer-trainers, people who know the approaches and experiences first hand from their own life.

Keeping it local: Moray has a wealth of support and education organisations in wellbeing. Our courses are delivered for the benefit of the Moray community and therefore endeavour to help our participants build sustainable links beyond any course; resources they can signpost to and access in Moray. Wherever possible we will use local trainers, venues and resources, as well as promote and deliver our courses in mutual partnership with all sizes of local organisations.
