Session 3: Justice Informed Peer Support
In person (Elgin) | Tuesday 27th October | 10:00am– 11:30am

This third session of the Moray Peer Support Community of Practice will focus on peer support groups being Justice Informed – this sessions led by Ainya Taylor – Community Justice Coordinator and will provide the opportunity to discuss how to implement a justice informed approach within your peer support group.

**Booking is essential**

About The Session
The session will offer plenty of opportunities to connect with others, build relationships, and learn alongside peers from across Moray about creating a safe, ethical and compassionate peer support environment. Whether your role is formal or informal, and whether you’re experienced or just starting out, your voice and experience are valued.

Together, we will work through realistic peer support scenarios to reflect on:

  • How to create a meaningful environment in existing groups, where people with lived experience of the justice system feel included and supported
  • How to mitigate concerns around safety from peer group members
  • How to trauma informed approaches need to be considered for both victims of crimes and people having offended crimes might
  • Share experiences, ideas, and approaches in a supportive, non-judgemental space
  • Connect with like-minded peers and begin building a local network of support

What you’ll gain
The session is grounded in the CHIME framework of recovery and will support:

  • Connection – building relationships with peers and strengthening a sense of community
  • Hope – learning from others’ experiences and seeing what’s possible in peer support
  • Identity – valuing lived experience while maintaining healthy boundaries
  • Meaning – reflecting on the role and purpose of peer support
  • Empowerment – increasing confidence in navigating boundaries safely and ethically

This session is about learning with one another, not being taught — creating a shared space for reflection, discussion, and mutual support.
