Bragolin is a Dutch dark wave/post-punk project led by Edwin van der Velde, known for itsย strong melodic hooks present on gothic dance floors worldwide. Drawing from โ80s Bass VI lines, โ60s and โ70s organs, and โ90s shoegaze guitars, Bragolin blends vintage and modern elements into a sound inspired by post-apocalyptic and horror cinema. The project takes its name from Italian painter Giovanni Bragolin, famed for his โCrying Boyโ paintings.
The debut album I Saw Nothing Good So I Left (2018) featured the track Into Those Woods,ย which is now a modern-day dance floor classic. The song surpassed 10 million all-time streams in 2025, establishing Bragolin as a consistent presence within the global dark wave and gothic scene. In 2019, van der Velde collaborated with fellow Dutch artist Adam Tristar on the second album Let Out The Noise Inside, which leaned further into electronic and synth-based production.ย
In 2026, Bragolin released the new album I Donโt Like What It Does To Me, unfolding inย gradually revealed chapters. Building on the projectโs signature sound, the record combines Bass VI melodies, organ lines, and rich atmospheric production. Field recordings, synthetic ocean textures, water-phones, and experimental sound sources create a layered, immersive listening experience. The album features Feel This Flame Unfold, a duet with darkwave artist Carrellee. In 2020 Edwin Daatselaar joined Bragolin as synth player to form the current live duo. Both Edwins also play in Zwarte Poรซzie. Bragolin has performed over 100 shows at festivals and clubs across Europe and Latin America, including appearances at Wave-Gotik-Treffen, Amphi Festival, and Cold Hearted Festival.
แ ๐ฎ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ (Madison, Wisconsin)
Carrellee is an ethereal darkwave artist from Madison, Wisconsin (US) whose "dark and sultry"
sound bridges shimmering synth-pop, haunting dream-pop and dark, danceable noir. She has drawn
comparisons to Cocteau Twins, Kate Bush and the pulsing allure of Italo-disco.
A former folk musician, she has spent the last four years building a distinctive presence in the underground electronic scene. Her 2022 debut Scale of Dreams (Negative Gain Productions) sold out its initial pressing and was quickly
repressed. Described by Analogue Trash as "deeply electronic in nature, yet also steeped in the organic," the album
launched a relentless touring schedule of nearly 100 US dates in 2023 alone. This included appearances at Coldwaves Festival (Chicago) and Verboden Festival (Vancouver), and NYCโs legendary venue St. Vitus. That same year she released Rescaled, a remix album featuring reworks from Patriarchy, Bestial Mouths, Casket Cassette, ESA, and Jeff Schroeder (ex-Smashing Pumpkins).
Her 2025 self-titled sophomore album on Germany's Young & Cold Records (Twin Tribes)
marked another shift in her sound. Mixed by Maurizio Baggio (Boy Harsher, The Soft Moon), mastered by Josh Bonati (Slowdive, Drab Majesty), with additional production from Matia Simovich (Riki, Patriarchy) and Ryan McCambridge (IAMX), the
record expanded her palette and following, bringing a "sensual touch to icy European-style dark "electropopโ that blurs the line between the dance floor and the abyss (Analogue Trash). It included break-out single "Captain," which has surpassed 1.4 million streams on Spotify. The album charted in the top 10 of the Deutsche Alternative Charts and earned radio play on KEXP. Post-Punk.com describes the album as having an "eerie allure, as her soft, whispering vocals glide over scorched synths and sharp beats," while Destroy//Exist called it "melancholy, wrapped
in vibrant electronics." Carrellee spent 2024โ2025 as the backing vocalist/synth player for IAMX during their European
and North American tours. She first connected with IAMX when she opened for them across the Midwest in the summer of 2023. Recent releases include a collaborative single with My Manifesto, a featured appearance on Bragolin's 2026 album, an official remix of an IAMX track, and a remix EP of her self-titled album that featuring remixes by IAMX, INHALT, Bragolin, Omar Doom, and Brood Faye.
