Going back to work after maternity leave: feeling every bit of it?

A morning for mums who want to feel ready, not just get through it!

Does this sound like you?

You’ve passed the halfway point on your maternity leave and thoughts about returning to work are starting to creep in. It all feels a bit overwhelming and you’re wondering how you can return with confidence when your life has changed so much. Maybe you're wondering whether you can still do your job, whether colleagues will take you seriously, or how you'll fit it all in. Maybe you're not sure who you are at work now, or whether you even want the same things you did before. Whatever you're feeling, it's completely normal, and you don't have to work it out alone.

What we'll explore together

This relaxed, honest morning is led by Evie Squires (Mother of All Jobs) and Gemma Holmes (The Peer Coach), who each bring a 45-minute talk designed to meet you where you are right now.

Evie will start with something that might feel like a relief: you're not who you were, and that's okay. Your priorities have shifted, and she'll help you get clear on what really matters to you now and what your non-negotiables are as a working mum. From there, you'll learn how to speak up for what you need, set boundaries without guilt, and understand your rights around flexible working, so you walk into those conversations informed and steady.

Gemma will then turn to the voice in your head that says you've lost your edge. You haven't. You're coming back with a new skillset and real strengths, not rusty versions of the old ones. She'll help you recognise the familiar confidence dips so many women feel on returning to work, reframe them into a stronger mindset, and begin to quieten imposter syndrome before it follows you back through the office door. You'll leave with a clearer sense of what you want, the words to ask for it, and a genuine belief that you have plenty to offer and options available.

You won't be doing it alone

Spend time with other local mums who are standing exactly where you are. There's something powerful about hearing "me too" from someone who gets it, and you may just find a friend (and a bit of a support network) for navigating the months ahead together.
