The Use of Expressive Arts in the Playroom
Through a combination of theory discussion, hands-on activities, and group interactions, attendees will gain a deep understanding of the healing potential inherent in expressive art media. The presenter will discuss developmental considerations when using expressive arts in play therapy. Attendees will have the opportunity to experience the application of various expressive activities through a humanistic framework.
For the presentation on expressive arts, the therapeutic power of play will be integrated through the use of expressive arts as a media for children and adolescents to engage in self-expression, emotional regulation, resiliency, and exploration of self-esteem.

Enhancing Play Therapists' Multicultural Awareness: Forming Strong Therapeutic Alliances with Children and Parents
This dynamic workshop is designed to empower play therapists with a deeper understanding of multicultural and social justice competencies. Through a combination of experiential activities and profound discussions on topics related to oppression and privilege, participants will gain valuable insights. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore case conceptualization, advocacy plans, and clinical implications for clients. By integrating interactive activities with real-world case studies, attendees will acquire the skills necessary to form strong therapeutic alliances firmly rooted in cultural humility.
The therapeutic power of play will be integrated through providing participants multicultural competency skills they can use to strengthen the therapeutic alliance with their clients while attending to their clients’ cultural needs. These skills will focus on enhancing resiliency and attachment formation.

Due to the conference being a 2 day event, please be sure to choose the ticket type that best fits your needs. Early Bird Special is available until February 25th before prices increase.
School Counselors: Due to Purchase Orders not being accepted for registration, we advise you to purchase your preferred ticket & certificate fee personally. Once you receive your invoice via email, you may use that documentation to request reimbursement from your district/school. Thank you for your understanding.

Meet your Presenter, Peggy Ceballos!
Dr. Peggy Ceballos is a Professor and Coordinator of the Doctoral Counseling program at the University of North Texas. Dr. Ceballos’ research agenda focuses on culturally informed play therapy interventions for minoritized students, and culturally informed parent and teacher play therapy-based training interventions. She has published numerous peer-reviewed publications, and she is currently the principal investigator of a $1.5 million Federal funded grant that seeks to address health disparities by enhancing the delivery of trauma-informed bilingual mental health services to minoritized children, adolescents, and transitional-aged youth. She is past president of Chi Sigma Iota International. She has conducted numerous professional presentations, and she has been the recipient of 11 professional awards, including the 2016 Texas Counseling Association Advocacy Award.
