Biomimicry: Nature-Inspired Design
Airplane wings, Velcro, self-cleaning paint, Spider-Man-style sticky adhesives, bird-friendly UV glass… 🕷️✈️
What do they all have in common? Nature taught us how.
Join Naturalist, Biomimicry Professional, and community supporter Adina Daar for an engaging talk on the interdisciplinary field of Biomimicry—the practice of learning from nature’s time-tested designs to solve human challenges.
This interactive workshop will:
-
Introduce the ethos and principles of nature-inspired design
-
Share fascinating real-world examples from science, design, and engineering
-
Explore how plants, animals, and ecosystems have already solved problems we’re still puzzling over
Expect a highly visual presentation, plenty of talk about plant and animal superpowers 🐙🌱, and time for group sharing and discussion.
Participants are encouraged to bring:
-
🌿 Interesting natural artifacts
-
💡 Challenges they’d like help re-imagining—through nature’s lens
Nature nerds, makers, tinkerers, and Renaissance thinkers (yes, like Leonardo da Vinci!)—this one’s for you.
