6 Week Leaded Stained Glass Evening Class

Learn the traditional craft of leaded stained glass and create your own finished stained glass panel over six relaxed evening sessions.

Unlike a one-day taster, this course gives you time to develop your skills properly. You'll create your own design, learn each stage of the process, and finish with a beautiful leaded panel made entirely by you. With only four participants, the class is deliberately kept small, giving everyone plenty of individual guidance throughout the course.

Over six weeks you'll learn:

• How to design a stained glass panel.
• Drawing up a full-size cartoon (the working drawing that you will use to make your panel).
• How to choose the right glass for your design. I have a wide selection to choose from.
• How to cut glass and shape it for an accurate fit.
• Leading up your panel using traditional lead came.
• How to solder your panel.
• Cementing, cleaning and polishing your finished panel.

The price includes all materials to make your panel, plus access to all tools and safety equipment. 

The workshop

This course takes place in my own studio at Parndon Mill, a working artist's studio where you will be surrounded by glass, tools and works in progress. There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions and learn at your own pace.

Parndon Mill is a beautiful countryside oasis just 15 minutes' walk from Harlow Station, with regular trains from Liverpool Street in Central London. Tea and coffee-making facilities are available - and, of course, I'll bring the biscuits!

Your tutor

My name is Muna, and I'm a bit of a glass addict!

I've been working with glass for over 15 years, exploring traditional stained glass, copper foiling, painted glass and mosaic. I love teaching and sharing the skills I've learnt through hands-on workshops.

A note on accessibility

This course takes place in my own studio at Parndon Mill. It is on the ground floor next to the Project Space at the Mill. It does have one step to access the room. The step is small at aproximately 8cm tall. Due to the curved shape of the step, I have been unable to source a ramp. This is something I am trying to solve but at present, I have not found a solution. Once in the room, the workbench is optimised so that you work standing as this is the best way to build a stained glass panel. I do have tall stools for all participants if they are needed though (or if you just need a little sit down every now and then!). Questions are welcome at any time.

Safety

This course uses traditional lead came and lead-based solder. While the risk is low when handled correctly, participants will be working with lead, soldering irons, sharp glass and glass-cutting tools. Good workshop practices will be followed throughout, including handwashing before eating or drinking, keeping food and drink away from the workbench, and using appropriate ventilation while soldering. This course is not suitable for anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding. If you have any concerns about lead exposure, respiratory conditions or other health issues, please get in touch before booking.

Refunds & Cancellations

• More than 28 days before the course starts (before 23 September): Full refund (excluding any Ticket Tailor booking fees).
• 14–28 days before the start (23 September–6 October): 50% refund.
• Less than 14 days before the start (from 7 October): No refund, unless your place can be filled from a waiting list, in which case I'll refund your payment (excluding booking fees).
• You are welcome to transfer your place to another adult if you can no longer attend—just let me know their name before the first session.
• Missed sessions during the course cannot be refunded or carried forward.

If I (as the organiser) need to cancel

If I need to cancel the course before it begins, you'll receive a full refund, or if you prefer, the option to transfer your booking to a future course. If a session has to be postponed due to unforeseen circumstances, I'll arrange a replacement date wherever possible.
