The Garden Gala
The Garden Gala is the last chance to celebrate the 2021 British Pavilion - The Garden of Privatised Delights - with a one-off event that will feature fine dining, debate, drinks and dancing while exploring some very British problems within privatised public space.
The Building Centre, Museum of Architecture, the Architectural Association and the British Council have collaborated to bring The Garden of Privatised Delights – commissioned by the British Council and curated by Manijeh Verghese and Madeleine Kessler – from Venice to London, back to where it all began. The exhibition will provide the perfect backdrop for this finissage event, starting with a champagne reception and Italian cocktails, followed by some strong opinions courtesy of the Negroni Talks team, who have been stirring the architectural scene since 2018. Hear from a number of experts about how we should fairly access the city with Public Space at Your Convenience while feasting on a four-course dinner from the celebrated Venetian restaurant Ombra. An exclusive preview of a film of the pavilion in Venice by Jim Stephenson will also be screened on the night.
The evening will be accompanied by the soundtrack of the city and visitors will be able to enjoy the much-loved exhibition that explores a whole host of privatised public spaces from high streets to pubs, garden squares to public toilets. Come dressed in your finest garden attire and join us for an unforgettable night of delight!
