Tales from the trowel's edge: new archaeological sites on the island of Samos
Tue 19 Mar 2024 1:15 PM - 2:00 PM
G19, Faculty of Classics, CB3 9DA
Description
Since 2021, the West Area of Samos Archaeological Project has been working on the Greek island of Samos, discovering and documenting brand new archaeological sites. Join the project’s field director as he dishes the dirt on how this exciting project is changing our understanding of ancient and post-antique Samos, exploring the landscape through various investigative techniques including fieldwalking, drone photography, and the microscopic analysis of ceramics. Important to these discoveries, too, is the team who made them: come and hear tales fresh from the field, learn about the people behind the discoveries, their good days and bad days, the anecdotes, the unexpected discoveries, the archaeology, and the friends we made along the way.
This is a free event. Booking is essential
