Description
One of musical theatre's superpowers as an art form is its ability to make people care about characters and subjects that might previously have been side-lined. Some musical theatre creatives have already been exploring how this ability can further engage audiences with the climate emergency - arguably the most urgent challenge any of us have ever faced, yet met with avoidance and denial by much of society.
Please join us for an efficient panel conversation about how the musical theatre sector can best make an impact in this area. We'll hear from individuals about their approaches so far. This discussion will include consideration of how new musicals addressing environmental sustainability can be sellable, engaging, inspiring and not preachy.
Joining the conversation so far is Finlay Carroll (Scatter Theatre Company), Malaika Cunningham (Centre for the Understanding of Sustainable Prosperity), Jess Taylor (Birmingham Hippodrome).
