The Juniper Trio

Music on Norway Pond opens its season with the Juniper Trio: violinist Geneva Lewis, violist Emma Wernig, and cellist Jay Campbell. Together, these acclaimed chamber musicians promise a memorable evening, performing Dmitry Sitkovesty’s transcription for strings of Bach’s Goldberg Variations.

A former BBC New Generation Artist, Lewis has received an Avery Fisher Career Grant and a Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award, and made her BBC Proms debut in 2023. Last spring she performed with the Oak Trio, subbing for the Brazilian violinist Nathan Amaral, who couldn’t get his visa in time. We all fell in love with Geneva and are looking forward to this international star’s return to Hancock. Wernig, a prizewinning soloist and principal violist of the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra, is known for her expressive, inventive approach to the viola. Campbell’s playing has been called “electrifying” by The New York Times; he has worked closely with composers including John Zorn and John Luther Adams.
