Surtierra Tour: When Music is Home (Avenue St Andrew's, Southampton)
Sat 7 Dec 2024 7:30 PM - 9:45 PM GMT
Avenue St Andrew’s URC, SO17 1XQ
Description
The celebrated Anglo-Chilean band Quimantu performing with the Andover Museum Loft Singers, the SWVG Choir and the Alkyona Quartet.
The Surtierra Tour is a tribute to those forced to leave their homeland, often with sorrow. In this context, music takes on a profound meaning: healing, uniting, rooting, and building community. The concert will feature the Misa de los Mineros - The Miners’ Mass (composed by Mauricio Venegas-Astorga) which will be followed by a second half programme of world and folk music from Quimantu and Andover Museum Loft Singers.
“The Misa de los Mineros is a captivating masterpiece that weaves the traditional with the contemporary through the beauty of heartfelt performances and arrangements.” Felipe Arévalo, Music Producer
“The combination of the musicians with the choir was beautiful, magical and full of energy. The Misa was just amazing and full of life." Audience member
