Who we are
Muslamic Makers helps the next generation of Muslim changemakers level up across the tech industry and beyond.
We started life as a monthly meetup in 2016 in London which gave Muslims a safe space to share ideas, network and collaborate. We focus on upskilling the community through events, mentorship, programmes, and scholarships. We’ve expanded our events to Manchester, Boston, USA and Toronto, Canada! Now the local community in West Yorkshire has launched, so come along and learn more about us!
Speaker 1: Ayesha Hussain, Data Governance and Quality Lead @ University of Leeds
How Muslim ambition and entrepreneurship can boost the digital economy
Ayesha is a data professional with 10+ experience in a variety of sectors including Health Informatics, Property, Finance and at present Higher Education. She is adept at translating complex business requirements into tangible results focussed action. Ayesha leads the University of Leeds’ Data Governance and Quality function to turn data into a strategic asset by ensuring data governance and quality is in place. She also advises on Identity and Access Management, Data Design Authority, GDPR and Risk committees.
Ayesha is experienced in Waterfall and Agile methodologies in the software development lifecycle and is also a technically astute in SQL, GraphSQL. Her experience as a Senior Business Analyst gives her cross domain experience from the lens of the business but her technical knowledge provides her with the ability to work in technical data teams.
Ayesha is also active in the Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain domains with a particular interest in the application of governance and policy to drive forward positive transformational change in society.
