Exposing Evil: Reflections on Syria and Palestine
Sat 17 Feb 2024 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Moseley Community Hub, B12 9AH
Description
Join Robin Yassin-Kassab and Zaina Erhaim for an insightful conversation on the 'Evil' issue of Critical Muslim, where they will discuss manifestations of evil in both the Syrian regime and the current crisis in Palestine.
Zaina Erhaim, an award-winning journalist, discusses her experiences growing up and working in Idlib, Syria. Manifestations of evil include the totalitarianism of the Assad regime, the violent authoritarianism of Islamist militias, and the repressive social forces targeting women in particular. Robin Yassin-Kassab connects this to notions of evil in the current narrative on Israel and Palestine, where acts of terrorism are being used to inflict more terror and violence upon innocent civilians. Finally, they ask: how can we combat evil?
