Founded in 1984, MAAEC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving and enriching the lives of Ethiopian-Americans in the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex. MAAEC was established in response to the growing needs of Ethiopian families in the region. At a time when access to culturally appropriate resources was limited, the community recognized the need for a central organization—one that could preserve cultural identity, expand opportunities, and provide meaningful support during resettlement and beyond.
