Description

A picturesque Regency house, built in the early 19th century, in a lovely secluded setting in a remote part of Denbighshire.

The house is situated on a wooded hillside overlooking lawned gardens, a little rose garden and interesting herbaceous borders running down to the Afon (river) Ystrud. To the rear of the house is a green bank including a white garden and ornamental woodland garden. The garden is the essence of peace and serenity, with rare plants and a famed, recently created shell house by Blott Kerr-Wilson.

The shell house at Mysevin

Welsh scholars William Owen Pughe and son Aneurin Owen assembled the Mysevin Manuscripts, (housed in National Library of Wales). They owned the Mysevin farmland but lived at neighbouring property, Tyn Y Gyrt. Family squabbles led to the main house at Mysevin being built. In 1976 the Kerr-Wilson family purchased the property from Churchill Owen's estate.

The garden tour includes the new wildflower meadow, outbuildings and the shell house followed by the reception rooms of Mysevin and a Welsh tea. Visitors may also wish to take short unguided woodland and river walks.

Tickets £17.50 including tea, coffee, soft drinks, scones, cakes and sandwiches
