The Day the Waters Came
Wed Feb 7, 2024 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM
America's Black Holocaust Museum, 53212
Description
It’s summer 2005. Maya Marsalis takes you by the hand, sometimes the throat, and leads you through her landscape the day Hurricane Katrina came, the levees broke, the world watched and the US government did nothing. Go with her as she shows you how her world and that of thousands of New Orleans citizens changed forever, the day the waters came.
This small-cast show is about how communities cope with disasters and the intentional systems of dispossession that amplify them.
Please note this is not a play for young children. It is most appropriate for ages 11 and up.
Doors open at 6:00 pm. Cost includes museum admission and refreshments before the show. The play will last about 75 minutes from opening curtain through after-show talkback.
