Myths, Maps, & Monsters: Dionysus' Drama Club!

Are you a creative young person, who likes acting, performing and making up stories? Myths, Maps & Monsters are running a Saturday drama club just for you! Over two hours, we'll help you hone your oratory skills, just like the Ancient Greeks! Give rousing speeches to raise armies like the King of Sparta, cast wicked spells on your enemies like Hades, or write heartfelt poems and songs like musical genius Orpheus! And of course, it's Myths, Maps & Monsters, so there will be props. Lots and lots of props.

After the success of their interactive theatre productions and immersive holiday camps, Myths, Maps & Monsters are proud to offer a slightly more educational service for children aged 6-12 at the Good Shepherd Studios. Sam and Ben are two professional comedians from London. Ben is an experienced drama teacher who does outreach work for LAMDA drama school. Sam is a former journalist who has worked on children's items for Radio 2 and Radio 4, in addition to starring in character comedy shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. These sessions will be about helping kids with their technical acting skills, but it will also encourage them to find their own creative voice. Using ancient myths and legends as a jumping off point, our students will learn how to devise an epic story, and bring it to life with costumes, props, and improvisation.
