Are you interested in capturing the beauty of flowers and plants?

Join Sally Stubbings at Nantgarw China Works and learn how to paint botanicals. Sally is a highly experienced tutor with over 20 years of teaching experience. Her style is to capture the genre with botanical correctness but with the added touch of painterly expression.

The course offers an introduction to the art of botanical painting in watercolour, exploring drawing from observation and inspiration, colour application, and the use of techniques, materials and tools.

A welcoming, supportive and relaxing class offering new skills, rewarding outcomes, and expert guidance, with optional work in-between classes for continued development.

Students are required to bring their own equipment to class. Please bring drawing equipment for the first week. Sally will then advise you on additional materials required for subsequent weeks. All imagery and flora will be provided in the class. No proficient experience required, though familiarity with drawing or painting is an advantage.  

Hot drinks are provided, but you are welcome to bring your own snacks. This class is suitable for ages 17+.

About Nantgarw China Works

We have a rich history of botanical painting. Nantgarw's famous porcelain painter Thomas Pardoe regularly copied illustrations from botanical magazines in the early 19th century. He is know to have applied his illustrations to velvet as well as ceramics, as well as offering tuition.
