Introduction to Ship-based Cetacean Surveys
Interested in taking part in ship-based surveys for whales, dolphins and porpoise? Join Dave Wall for an introduction to ship-based cetacean survey methods and cetacean identification. This course will give you the essential knowledge you need to participate in boat-based cetacean surveys such as the IWDG Ferry Surveys Programme . The course will cover cetacean identification and distributions, an introduction to the IWDG Ferry Surveys Programme, and conducting line transect surveys for cetaceans. We will also provide a practical introduction to using the software employed by the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group (IWDG) during ferry surveys.
This workshop is being held with the support of Louth County Council and the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group.
This workshop does not involve fieldwork, but details of how to participate in follow on survey experience at sea with the IWDG Ferry Surveys Programme will be provided.
