Invasive species are most commonly spread through contaminated gear, including equipment, boats, footwear, and clothing. Many invasive plants and animals are small and difficult to detect, allowing them to hitch a ride on damp equipment and be carried into new waterways.
Join Chantel Carr, Biosecurity & Citizen Science Species Officer, for a hands-on, practical workshop that introduces the core principles of biosecurity. You’ll learn how to identify key invasive species, as well as simple “Check, Clean, Dry” habits that can make a real difference in protecting the waterways, environments, and activities you love.
Who should attend?
• Anglers, paddlers and boat users
• Outdoor instructors and club coaches
• Community volunteers and Tidy Towns groups
• Environmental and biodiversity officers
• Anyone who spends time on or near rivers, lakes and wetlands and wants to help protect them
