People's Emergency Briefing
This event, which was facilitated by Vicky Wyer and organised by Stephanie Pywell, was attended by over 100 guests.
The Vicar of St Mark's Church, Reverend Maxine Howarth, opened and closed the event.
Alistair Strathern MP gave a short address at the start, supporting the film, its aims, and the extraordinary movement of ordinary concerned citizens responsible for its spread to almost 4,000 screenings across the UK and beyond.
A show of hands indicated that this was a first environmental event for about half the guests, who included NHDC and HCC Councillor Ian Albert.
Guests viewed a short recorded address from Chair of HCC, Councillor Sandy Walkington, who recommended the film as the “must-see film of the summer”, knocking The Odyssey off the top spot in his opinion!
The film and the event received very positive written feedback from 25 guests, with descriptors including "informative", "thought-provoking" and "inspiring".
One guest wrote that they had “a greater sense of urgency”, while another commented “it’s so important for us all to wake up”, and someone feared that “so many of us, myself included, are sleepwalking towards disaster”.Location
