Firestone Bay 'Shark Month' Bioblitz!

Plymouth Sound National Marine Park will be celebrating with The Rock Pool Project by teaming up to host a shark and ray eggcase hunt and a rock-pool Bioblitz! This is a fun, competitive rock-pooling event where participants race against time to discover and identify local marine species, helping to gather valuable data supporting UK marine biodiversity conservation.
- Bioblitz Battle: Work in teams to discover and identify as many species as possible within a set timeframe. No experience is needed—we’ll provide guidance, equipment, and expert help.
- Educational Sessions: You will learn to identify species, understand their ecology, and gain insights into marine surveys
- Fun for All Ages: Perfect for families, wildlife enthusiasts, and anyone looking to enjoy a day by the sea while contributing to vital conservation work.

What to bring:
You will need appropriate clothing and footwear for rock-pooling. (we recommend walking boots or wellies), and a smart phone with iNaturalist downloaded to be able to record species during the bioblitz. - iNaturalist
Facilities:
There are available public toilets close by. Moderate accessibility will be required for this event as there are steps down to the beach. There is a café on site serving up refreshments.
