San Antonio Chapter — Winter Bird BioBlitz at Kirchoff Prairie

Experience the beauty and biodiversity of the Kirchoff Prairie during a morning of bird surveys led by experts from the Bexar Audubon Society. 

Volunteers will gather at 7:30 AM and then divide into four teams, each exploring a designated 50-acre section of the property to observe and document bird species from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Following the surveys, findings will be shared, and a lunch will cap off the day.

The Kirchoff Prairie is a remarkable example of prairie restoration, transitioning from decades of row crop farming to thriving native grasslands. This property reflects a great commitment to preserving natural habitats, offering a sanctuary for a variety of bird species. Participants will also have the opportunity to hear from the Kirchoff family about their efforts to create a sustainable prairie in honor of their parents' legacy.
