Nayar: Concert & Celebration - Friday 29 November
Outside, it is cold and raining. Crowds slosh through puddle-strewn streets, sprayed by cars whizzing by. It is the last Friday of November, and they are all a bit grumpy. After an intense week at work they brace themselves for December's hazy hangovers, uncontrolled consumerism, and inevitable flu.
Inside, however, it is cosy. Incense drifts through the candle-lit interior. The church is ornate with miracles everywhere, none more so than the collection of beautiful souls gathered together. Some greet old friends or meet new ones, while others prefer to be alone, pensive and reflective. After a while, music reverberates around the room, a hint of melancholy, a hint of hope. And then, the afterparty!
This is the aspiration for Nayar's next London concert. We will be celebrating the release of some new songs by playing some at the Holy Sepulchre Church in London - the National Musician's Church - a stone's throw from Chancery Lane and Farringdon stations (depending on how far you can throw). There will be nibbles and drinks from 7:15pm, music from 7:45pm and after it all finishes (around 9:45pm), you are invited to join us at the pub across the road :) Ticket revenues will cover event costs; any surplus will support the charity Médecins Sans Frontières.
Nayar is a new musical collective initiated by Vedantha Kumar (co-founder of indie-folk trio August and After. For this evening, it will consist of Vedantha (vocals/guitar), Jamil de Dominicis (guitar/vocals), Karl D'Souza (piano), Ella Jones (vocals) and Maddy Hamilton (cello). You can find out more about Nayar here, and we invite you to follow us on instagram. The magical Joe Holtaway will open the set.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
