Annie Fullard in Residence: A Burst of Joy Featuring Schubert’s Cello Quintet and More

We are pleased to present a chamber music concert featuring Annie Fullard, MaryGrace Bender, Charissa Leung, Eric Wong, and Felix Wang, musicians united by shared artistry and a love of collaborative music-making.

The program traces a historical arc from the Classical era to the present day. Mozart’s “Dissonance” Quartet opens the evening with its famously bold introduction, a striking moment in late-18th-century chamber music that gives way to elegance and formal clarity. Jessie Montgomery’s Strum offers a contemporary perspective, blending rhythmic energy with influences drawn from American and vernacular string traditions.

The concert concludes with Schubert’s Cello Quintet in C Major, one of the most expansive and expressive works of the early Romantic period. With the addition of a second cello, Schubert deepens the ensemble’s sound, creating a work of remarkable warmth, intimacy, and emotional breadth.
