The Presenter:
Dr. Alexandra Button is a Clinical Psychologist and EMDR Consultant with over 15 years experience working with adults across community and inpatient settings in the NHS. She currently supports adults and children in her private practice in South Devon offering EMDR and Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy.
Alex has a wealth of experience working with clients who have experienced chronic and enduring trauma. As such, she is experienced in understanding how and when adaptations to the EMDR Standard Protocol are required.
Alex supervises a number of EMDR therapists across the UK who are working in NHS and private practice settings, who are all at different points in their journey with EMDR.
Workshop Description:
This one-day workshop aims to help EMDR therapists develop their confidence in using EMDR for the treatment of conditions beyond PTSD. Dr Button will present with the support of an 'expert by experience' who was treated for Complex PTSD, Dissociation and Chronic Fatigue using EMDR in the NHS over 18 months.
The workshop is intended as a 'masterclass', and as such will be limited to 30 delegates in order to allow plenty of time for small group work & discussion.
Special attention will be paid to formulation, target selection, and how & when to adapt the Standard Protocol when working with complex cases. Dr Button will focus on stabilisation and dealing with blocks to processing. Teaching will include clinical case presentation, and teaching of techniques via explanation & demonstrations. There will be opportunity for workshop participants to practice the techniques in pairs. Small groups will also have the opportunity to think together about using EMDR to treat hypothetical complex case presentations.
The Venue:
