NELSON’S JOURNEY – 2024 WALK OF SMILES

Walk of Smiles is a fantastic family fun day combined with a walk in memory of someone special who has died or those grieving, and to support Nelson’s Journey.

WHEN Saturday 15th June 2024 10am-2pm

• 10am - 10.50am - Arrival, registration and time to grab some refreshments or play on the fete games.
• 10.50am - 11am - We take some time to remember.
• 11am - 12pm - The walk commences. Non walkers are welcome to stay at the Octagon Park and enjoy the activities. Guests are welcome to walk the route anytime until 1pm however our marshals will only be available on the route between 11am and 12pm
• 12pm-2pm - Join in the family fun afternoon ( See details below)

WHO This event is OPEN TO ALL, not just those who have used the services of Nelson’s Journey. Well behaved dogs are welcome but MUST be kept on a lead.

WHAT IS THE WALK OF SMILES?

Nelson's Journey Walk of Smiles is a special occasion to get together with your family and friends, to come to remember and walk in memory of a special person who has died or to think of those people who are grieving. After the walk, there will be a number of fun family activities for everyone to enjoy.  The day will include:

• A beautiful country side walk with routes of 2 and 2.5 miles
• A buggy friendly route
  
• Family fun day
• Fete style fun afternoon
• Fundraising games and activities
• Raffle and tombola
• Refreshments and BBQ or you are welcome to bring your own picnic
• Free arts and crafts and activities
• Bring your own teddy or soft toy for a little pampering at our Teddy bear TLC stand
• Meet the Pets as Therapy dogs
• Fun dog awards
• Opportunity to make some items to remember the person.

ACCESS The 2 miles walk is buggy and wheelchair friendly however due to some other areas of the venue having uneven terrain this may restrict access to guests in wheelchairs.

SPONSORSHIP All walkers are invited to raise sponsorship for Nelson’s Journey although this is not essential to take part in the walk. Details of how to do this will be emailed after you have purchased tickets. Raising funds for Nelson’s Journey will help us provide the activities we use to support the families we work with.
