We will visit one of New England’s most unusual sawmills, New England Naval Timbers. This mill produces timbers for wooden ships, such as the Bluenose II (the official ship of Nova Scotia) and the Clearwater, known for its work in protecting the Hudson River estuary. Owner Duke Besozzi will be our host.
In the afternoon we will tour Great Mountain Forest in Canaan to see a Timber Stand Improvement project sponsored by the CT Land Conservation Council and funded by the CT Department of Agriculture. Our hosts will be Matt Gallagher of CT DEEP and Kate Regan-Loomis from Great Mountain Forest.
