Description
Using decorative cloth as a means to wrap gifts has been a part of Japanese culture for centuries. “Furoshiki” makes the art of gift giving more personalised and special.
Furoshiki is a square piece of cloth or fabric used for gift wrapping, transporting items, fashion, and home decor. The word refers both to the craft and to the cloth itself, which usually has an elegant, decorative design. Furoshiki has become increasingly popular with cultures around the world as it has transformed the art of gift-giving.
Come along to this eco-friendly gift wrapping workshop to find out more about this art and learn how to wrap a variety of items, including a wine bottle in fabric using the environmentally friendly Furoshiki technique. You’ll be provided with fabric from our remnant store and guided through the stages to practise the technique that you can use in the future for all your gift wrapping needs.
All the materials we use are from our remnant store and have been donated to NEST.
Light refreshments included.
This is a pay what you can event thanks to funding received from PKC Community Investment Fund. You can attend for free but if you wish to make a donation towards this event when booking, this will enable us to run more pay what you can events.
If you find you cannot make it, please let us know as soon as possible so we can offer the space to someone else. Thank you.
