Scrap Busting Table Runner

Sun 8 Mar 2026 10:30 AM - 4:00 PM GMT Nest Creative Spaces, PH10 6ND

Tutor: Aida Grier for Nest Creative Spaces

Join us for a fun and eco-friendly quilting workshop where you'll create a beautiful Scrap Buster Table Runner using leftover fabric scraps – a perfect way to breathe new life into your stash and reduce textile waste.

There will be a half hour break for lunch, so please bring something with you.

This class is ideal for beginner quilters or anyone looking to brush up on the basics while making something both practical and lovely for the home. Guided by an experienced tutor, you’ll learn essential quilting techniques including:

  • How to accurately cut fabric for quilting

  • Using a rotary cutter and quilting ruler safely and effectively

  • How to use a quilting binding tool

  • How to sandwich a quilt (layering your top, wadding, and backing)

  • Making your own quilt binding

  • Creating beautifully mitred corners for a professional finish

A colourful selection of scrap fabric will be available on the day for you to use, but you're welcome to bring your own if you prefer. For those bringing their own materials, you'll need:

  • One 8½" square and eight coordinating 2½" squares

  • A selection of 2½" strips (as seen in the project examples)

  • A piece of backing fabric measuring 44" x 18" (we have plenty to choose from, or bring your own – approximately 1 metre if using one fabric throughout)

  • A piece of wadding the same size as your backing fabric

Why not get creative with a reversible design – use cheerful summer fabrics on one side and festive Christmas prints on the other, giving you a versatile table runner for all seasons?

As with all our workshops, we champion the reuse of materials, supporting sustainable crafting and reducing waste. Come along, connect with fellow crafters, and leave with a handmade treasure for your table and new quilting skills to enjoy.

Light refreshments included

If you find you cannot make it, please let us know as soon as possible so we can offer the space to someone else. Thank you.
