Come along and discover your own creative flair and learn some professional jewellery making techniques with jewellery designer Sheila Roussel.
This is a hands-on workshop where you will be taken through the step-by-step process to create your very own silver pendant or pair of silver earrings for yourself or as a gift. You will be able to make either a pair stud style earrings (with post and butterfly back) or drop style earrings (with a silver wire earring hook) or a pendant.
No experience is needed as Sheila will guide you through the basics of sawing, filing, annealing, forming, soldering, texturing and polishing. You will be shown how to use the jeweller's saw, various hammers, punches, files and pliers safely then use them to practise in copper then use the same techniques to make your own silver jewellery.
Materials: copper, a piece of sterling silver (2x3cm approx.) or silver wire (20cm) are included in the fee. Sterling silver will be available for sale on the day should you wish to make a larger pendant or pair of earrings. Silver chain will be available to buy on the day to complete your pendant.
Light refreshments will be provided during the workshop.
Beginners are welcome but you’ll need to be able to use pliers and work with small items.
Don’t forget your glasses if you need them for close work.
Young people aged from 12 can attend with a participating adult.
