Working with Clients Experiencing Domestic Abuse or Violence

Working with clients who are experiencing, or have experienced, domestic abuse in a person-centred and trauma informed way.

On this CPD we will look at definitions of abuse, ethics and safeguarding guidance from the NCPS and BACP and how to ensure we are working in a client lead, person centred way when a client shares their experiences with us in the room.

The CPD will be conducted over Zoom platform on Saturday 26th September from 10am-1pm.

This will give you 3 hours of CPD and an attendance certificate will be provided for your records.

This will be an emotive CPD and may touch on your own experiences, so please ensure this feels the right time for you to attend and it will be important as well as mandatory to have a confidential space on the day. It will also be important to ensure some space for yourself after the CPD for reflection and self care.

Places on this training are very limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.

About the Trainer

This workshop will be led by Rhianan Lowes, Course Leader and Senior Tutor on the Advanced Diploma team at Network Counselling & Training.

Rhianan's previous experience includes working in several charity roles in the homeless sector and deprived areas of economic need across Bristol. She has been a qualified counsellor since 2016 and later trained in relationship counselling (2017) as well as a counselling supervisor (2018). She has taught in several teaching settings at level 5 counselling since 2018 to the present, and joined Network in 2022. She has had the privilege of seeing several cohorts across courses complete their qualification to become fully qualified counsellors and set up their own private practice, some of her previous students are now also supervisors and run counselling agencies.

Outside teaching, Rhianan has her own private practice seeing clients as well as supervisees - both qualified and student counsellors.
