To celebrate National Heritage Week, we are delighted to collaborate with Kate Maher of Dúlra Forest School. Participants will meet in the Library and be brought by Kate to their Forest School in Newbridge Linear Park where they will learn about native flora and fauna through games and interactive resources. They will learn about the food and medicinal uses of native plants, and make some small craft items using natural materials.
Forest School is a child-led, play-based outdoor education approach, facilitated by trained professionals, that takes place in a wild space. Forest School promotes mental well-being and confidence, builds community, and strengthens our knowledge and connection with nature.
Kate Maher is a qualified teacher, a Founding Member of the Chartered College of Teaching, and Forest School Leader based in Kildare.
Children remain in the care of their parents or guardians throughout the workshop. Please wear appropriate footwear and dress for the outdoors!
