A Weekend of Dynamic Concerts at the 2024 New Century Dance Project Festival

New Mexico’s annual New Century Dance Project Festival is a week-long event culminating in four concerts featuring exceptional artists from across North America including a FREE Sunday afternoon student informal showcase of experimental works created during the festival's dance intensive.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 2: An Evening of World Premieres with Zeitgeist Dance Theatre, 7 pm, NDI New Mexico, 1140 Alto St, Santa Fe, NM 87501. The Concert will be immediately followed by a Q&A discussion with the choreographers and dancers. 

SATURDAY, AUGUST 3: New Voices: Dynamic and Diverse Works by National Finalists , 2 pm, NDI New Mexico, 1140 Alto St, Santa Fe, NM 87501.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 3: An Evening of World Premieres with Zeitgeist Dance Theatre, 7 pm, NDI New Mexico, 1140 Alto St, Santa Fe, NM 87501. The Concert will be immediately followed by the Festival Awards Ceremony. 

SUNDAY, AUGUST 4: FREE Student Choreography Showcase, 1 pm, NDI New Mexico, 1140 Alto St, Santa Fe, NM 87501 (Reservation Needed).

Launched in 2020,the dynamic Santa Fe-based Zeitgeist Dance Theatre (ZDT) honors our individual and shared stories, actively engaging diverse communities to cultivate genuine empathy, build lasting connections and foster a deep sense of belonging in an increasingly disconnected world.

This summer's ZDT Concerts bring together the work of three renowned choreographers; Zak Ryan Schlegel and Francisco Gella of New Mexico, and New York City’s Yusha-Marie Sorzano. Four original works will be presented, including a new creation honoring the 20th Anniversary of Santa Fe's own 'Dancing Earth' Company led by visionary Artistic Director Rulan Tangen. The 43 dancers from across the hemisphere performing the works represent some of the best and brightest young artists leading the art form into the future.

The New Voices Concert features the work of 17 high school, undergraduate, and emerging professional choreographers selected as nationally finalists following a competitive process. Our guest artists will present dynamic and diverse works and compete for cash prizes.

The Festival’s FREE Student Choreography Showcase is an audience favorite every year! Participants in our seven-day intensive spend part of their week creating short new works. These works created and performed by the students are always fresh, innovative and exciting! Come out to support these brilliant young artists.
