Extremes. Opposing poles. Ideological trenches. Echo chambers. What, in the midst of the current winds, is the role of the church? Does it have a healthy alternative to offer? Out of her experience as part of Casa Adobe, an intentional Christian community in Costa Rica, Ruth will help awaken our theological imagination for how the good news can be embodied in, and through, our Christian communities. There will be opportunities for Q&A and conversation with others.

About the presenter

Dr. Ruth Padilla DeBorst currently teaches on the faculty of Western Theological Seminary (WTS) in Holland, MI.  As the WTS website describes, Ruth "yearns to see peace and justice embrace in the beautiful and broken world we call home. A wife of one and mother of many, theologian, missiologist, educator, and storyteller, she has been involved in leadership development and theological education for integral mission in her native Latin America for several decades." She also serves with the Comunidad de Estudios Teológicos Interdisciplinarios (CETI, a learning community with students across Latin America), and the Networking Team of INFEMIT (International Fellowship for Mission as Transformation).
