When young Miguel is mysteriously swept into the Land of the Dead on Día de los Muertos, he discovers that the ancestors we've lost are never fully gone — they live on in memory and love. A joyful, moving film about family, forgiveness, and honoring those who came before us, echoing our own hope that we remain bound to those we've loved and lost.

Coco won Academy Awards for Animated Feature and Original Song. It's a beautiful film for all ages, and a rich starting point for conversation about grief, legacy, and the healing that comes when broken relationships are finally seen and named. Discussion led by Doug Dunderdale.

About the Faith & Film series:

In this series we will examine the potent and relevant medium of film in exploring themes of love, faith, conscience, evil, death, reception, grace, morality, identity, and our yearning for the sacred. Each month we will view a different film––each unique, compelling, and demanding––reflecting our current times. Each film is curated by those who love this artistic medium and will host a conversation following our viewing. Co-sponsored by First Presbyterian Church of Berkeley and New College Berkeley.
