QPR legends Kevin Gallen, Lee Cook & Martin Rowlands – live Q&A

From their first shirt to their first game, every young footballer dreams of one day playing for the club they supported as a child. Yet while this ambition has been shared at one time by virtually everyone kicking a ball professionally around the globe, only a small minority of players ever get the chance to live the original dream and play for the badge. 

Opportunities, contracts, transfer and life have diverted a legion of potential hometown heroes, making those footballers who actually play for their childhood clubs as rare as 30 goals-a-season, Premier League-ready strikers.

Remarkably, QPR has not only seen at least three boyhood supporters make the 1st team in recent years but, between 2003 and 2007, they were all in the same starting XI. 

Kevin Gallen, product of the club's academy and one of the Championship's greatest ever strikers, was joined by a skilful winger Lee Cook after a journey that took him from non-league to Loftus Road via Watford, before combative and visionary midfielder Martin Rowlands finally linked with the Rs after first playing over a 150 games for their West London neighbours.

Coming together to discuss their playing days, their journeys in football, their time on the pitch together and just exactly what it means to finally pull on the shirt you first owned in a child's replica edition. Kevin, Martin and Lee will all be interviewed live on stage at The George IV, Chiswick, on Wednesday 8th October 2025.

Taking place in the pub's renowned Boston Room, the evening will feature in-depth interviews with each player before Lee, Martin and Kevin all share some stories and secrets from their days together in the Queens Park Rangers first team. From playing against Iran, to playing for the badge, New Goal Dream will lift the lid on what it is like not to make it in football, but what it means to actually play for the team you support.
